Sebastian died. He was cranky. Acted as though he knew everything and nobody could tell him something he didn’t know. I think he felt betrayed when Bazil had good fortune. When I first met him they were close, but I think it ended. It seemed to me he expected his bandmates to remain with him even if there was no money because they were the shit godammit. Something like that. I recall he also despised Lorraine Segato and wrote a song about her. I did not find it convincing. The point of view was someone who thought she doth protest too much. Something triggered him about her. He identified as a protest singer songwriter but for me his lines were not as inspiring as someone like Leonard Cohen. I got more from “I’ve seen the future… and it is murder.” I sensed Lorraine reminded him of himself and something about that and her larger success, pissed him off. I could be wrong. In the last two decades he ran an open stage, I wanted to go but it was on the other side of the city and I don’t have a license to take the subway there. When I saw the obit, already many months old, I was reminded of the thing I liked most about him. He was one of the Marx brothers. It’s as clear as why a duck? Why not a chicken? a total ringer for Chico or Harpo’s brother. Sebbo. I might be the only one who knew.
