A professor stopped me in the hallway with a confused look on his face and asked what my shirt said. I stood back so he could read it clearly. I waited for him to smile or laugh. He did neither though he slowly replied the famous song, right? I said yeah but still he looked confused and I didn’t sense he knew the songwriter was Mr. Dylan. Riding the subway five hours later, it occurred to me when he read The Ants Are My Friends and They’re Blowin’ In The Wind maybe he thought those are the real lyrics and maybe he wondered why does anyone care about such a stupid lyric? Next time I will say I teach lyrics and this is an example of not understanding them correctly or maybe next time I will just enjoy spreading disinformation like the way the world around me already works.
