25/7 Only Fans

Still thinking about the Tik Tok marketers and their insight about modern paradigms of music industry. It mixes perfectly with finishing Rufi Thorpe’s new book where the protagonist is a 19 yr. old who keeps her baby despite pleas from family and friends not to. Then loses her job and relationships before stumbling into the world of Only Fans which proves to be her unexpected route to independence. Those Tik Tok marketers manage over 50 music acts and most of them also have Only Fans sites. Bob Lefsetz asked if that means they all undress, isn’t only Fans a porn subscription outlet? They reply not necessarily, some of our artists just record going to the grocery store and some people pay monthly subscriptions just for that, to watch the acts be normal. Later when Lefsetz asks about what money the acts make selling music, the Tik Tok marketers reply the money is all in merchandise from the wide net of subscribers. It was very interesting they imply the money is not in selling anything musically but rather t-shirts or coffee mugs etc., based on whoever wants to be subscribed to listening to your music. In that film about Elvis Presley last year and his manager Colonel Tom Parker I was amused that as things took off for Elvis, the colonel not only created buttons to sell at his concerts that said I love Elvis but also sold buttons that said I hate Elvis.
