A musician watched a video of a woman skiing down a narrow steep cliff and it’s intense. What also stood out was it starts with the skier saying to herself “you got this” over and over. This particular musician noticed he never started a concert by saying to himself “you got this” even if he felt nervous about the outcome. He reasoned this was because instructing yourself about how to behave is like pretending you are not you. The only thing that might interfere with his abilities would be doubting he knew how to do what he knew how to do.
