I am amazed watching the Senate Committee Hearings interviewing proposed candidates like Robert Kennedy Jr., Tulsi Gabbard and Kash Patel. Some interviewers become hysterical trying to limit the exploration of an idea into only a yes/no. It is a delicious piece of bullshit because the interviewer or the interviewee can use it to screw with the truth. I think the bigger picture is the nature of language. Some issues cannot be illuminated sincerely using only yes or no. They require context. Likewise some answers are deflective in avoiding yes or no. It is all about who frames the question and who agrees to the framing. Makes me think of raising kids and making sure they cross only at the light and one day you try jaywalking with them and they are freaked out and can’t understand why you would break you own rules. Maybe for them now it is fair to never believe in you again, but how do you explain or persuade there is context. Certain songs got me deeply because of the way they framed the story. Subterranean Homesick Blues and Maggie’s Farm were early revelations of it.
