There is a game I play with my older brother Ronnie, we try to placing ourselves into childhood memories and see them again, especially details, we jog our memories with just a few hints, we send each other emails with just one sentence like “the poster in the back hall” or “hiding under the piano”, memory riddles but we never recover the deep details. You might recall lunch yesterday but what did you eat 9 days ago? Emotional memories have a different buzz. Sometimes I think my daughter will remember everything we do but then I remember it’s unlikely. Nobody remembers all the details. Then I rethink the imagining the future business and settle instead on trying to gracefully do the here and now.
