There was an impossible jail situation where the jailers placed gps trackers inside the bodies of the prisoner. Unless there was a way to remove the tracker, it would be impossible to escape and not later be found. The trick was to escape while remaining in jail or to put it another way the only way out was through appearing to give up the idea of escape and in a sense relocating where one lived, internally. Musicians involved with freely improvised music come up against similar parameters because to play free means to allow anything and yet if one should find themselves focusing on melodic sequences, many would find that goes against the basis of freely improvised music…but if anything goes than being melodic is fair game too. Those musicians also have to relocate their inner residence.
