Walking in the park, trying to listen to the environmental sounds like a concert. Makes me think about moments where composers (or improvisers) present sequences of sound as if random, and how I judge those musics from my own sense of what is random or contrived. In fact I think I judge all music from my sense of whether it feels organic or contrived. But here, outside walking with the spring sounds overloading everyone’s ears, one cannot tell the birds, the joggers, the parents with kids on bikes or the water that they aren’t random or if you did then that would mean the bias you hear is your own.
