While walking in High Park, saw a blue jay today. Struck at first by how surreal it’s colour is, stopped my walk to try studying it. A minute later a second blue jay emerged like a magician revealing a rabbit in the hat. Realized the reason the first flew to this space was to sing with someone else, someone who he is in the same band with. It’s like the natural world is many radio stations simultaneously blaring, but for the actual musicians playing Motown, it’s easy to hear who shares their groove vs. who is playing Franz Liszt, Frank Zappa or Fela Kuti.
