VR stops thought

Many musicians (and athletes) have experienced the problem of thought interfering with execution. To think about it is to lose it, especially if the work requires speed, but pretty impossible to stop thought. Virtual Reality helped me experience this problem differently. In previous VR experiences, especially in the classroom this time last year, was disappointed why anyone thinks VR is cool, seems more awkward than reality but that’s precisely how it can short circuit thinking. While walking in High Park yesterday I realized if one treats reality as if you were wearing an oculus, then one’s experience is more like the “experience of experience” and this type of position is very much like the participating in an improvisation or a jam. Thinking sort of goes out the window. In essence we are all wearing an oculus, our bodies already are the ultimate VR since we forget to stop and see our situation for what it is, a little spot of the brain from where we ride out physicality as if this body is us when in fact there is no us.
