I had not listened to Dynamo Hum since I was a teenager. Listening to it yesterday while driving back from Guelph was incredible. Lyrically, I always found much of Zappa’s work funny or adolescent. That’s still what I hear in his writing but I also enjoy the energy of him being a writing-every-second-of-the-day type of artist. That in itself is inspiring even if “How ’bout you Fawna? Ya wanna?” will always only be amusing to 14 yr. old boys methinks. the listening experience changed realizing only in recent years the background vocals are Tina Turner and the Ikettes and Ike insisted Zappa not credit them because the material was so offensive, might damage their reputation.
